     King Edmund (?) I was born in 921. He was the son of Edward I 'The Elder' (?) King of England and Edgifu (?). King Edmund (?) I married Elfgifu (?) in 940.¹ King Edmund (?) I died on 26 May 946 at Pucklechurch, Avon, England. He Edmund was stabbed at a banquet - according to some historians, by Leolf, an outlaw.² He was buried at Glastonbury Abbey, Somerset, England.

JOHN SHAW, younger of the two sons of Abraham and Bridget (Best) Shaw, baptized in Halifax parish, Yorkshire, England, May 23, 1630, was in his ninth year when his father died. He grew up in Weymouth and married about 1650 Alice Phillips (daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth Phillips of Dedham and Weymouth). He is credited with service under Lt. Upham as a soldier during King Philip's war, and was seventy-four years old when he died in Weymouth September 16, 1704. Administration of his estate was granted October 17, 1704 to his widow Alice, and to his eldest son John, Named in the distribution (March 11, 1705/6) were sons John, Nicholas, Joseph, Benjamin and Ebenezer, daughter Mary King (a widow) and her four sons, Joseph Poole and wife Elizabeth, Gideon Tirrel and wife Hannah, Richard Davenport and wife Abigail, John Androse and wife Alice. Elizabeth Poole was perhaps the Elizabeth Shaw who signed as witness to the will of her grandfather, Nicholas Phillips, in 1671, if a girl of fifteen, as she was then, were allowed as witness.

     Joseph Shaw was born on 11 January 1690/91 at Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts. He was the son of Joseph Shaw and Judith Whitmarsh. Joseph Shaw married Mary Blanchard, daughter of John Blanchard and Abigail Phillips, on 4 December 1716.¹ Joseph Shaw died on 25 March 1742 at Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts, at age 51.

     Greenwood Cushing was born on 10 June 1744. He was the son of Adam Cushing and Sarah Reed.

     Joseph Shaw was born on 15 April 1664 at Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts.¹ He was the son of John Shaw and Alice Phillips. Joseph Shaw married Judith Whitmarsh, daughter of John Whitmarsh , Jr and Sarah Harding, in 1686. Joseph Shaw died on 14 September 1718 at Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, at age 54.

     Ellen Frances Orcutt was born on 15 July 1842 at Abington, Plymouth, Massachusetts.¹ She was the daughter of Orren Orcutt and Mary Josselyn Jones.      King Edgar (?) was born in 944. He was the son of King Edmund (?) I and Elfgifu (?). King Edgar (?) Edgar was crowned by Dunstan, Archbishop of Canterbury, and Oswald, Archbishop of York. Edgar is considered to have been the first king of a united England.

He was efficient and tolerant of local customs, and his reign was peaceful. He was most important as a patron of the English monastic revival.
