James Austin Damon

     James Austin Damon was born on 8 May 1855 at Hanover, Plymouth, Massachusetts.^1,2 He was the son of James Studley Damon and Clarinda Ann Matthews. James Austin Damon lived on 19 July 1860 at West Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He appeared on the census of 1870 in the household of James Studley Damon and Clarinda Ann Matthews at Abington, Plymouth, Massachusetts.³ James Austin Damon married Mary Kingman Chessman, daughter of Edward Blanchard Chessman and Emily White Orcutt, on 19 February 1876 at Abington, Plymouth, Massachusetts.^1,4 James Austin Damon and Mary Kingman Chessman appeared on the census of 1880 at West Abington, Plymouth, Massachusetts.⁵ James Austin Damon was shoe maker in 1889.⁶ As of 1889, James Austin Damon lived at Hancock Street, North Abington, Plymouth, Massachusetts.⁶ He appeared on the census of 1900 at Hancock Street, Abington, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He was laster (In bootmaking, a workman who shapes a boot or shoe, by fixing the parts smoothly on a "last" or wooden model of the foot)
in 1904.⁷ He died on 4 March 1920 at Abington, Plymouth, Massachusetts, at age 64.¹
