     Thomas Thaxter married Elizabeth (?) before 1626 at Hingham, England.1 Thomas Thaxter Thomas, first of the name in Hing., was granted a house-lot in 1638 near the 'training field' at Hing. Centre. He afts. purchased of Capt. John Mason, who had removed to Windsor, Conn., the dw.-house and land which previously was Mr. Robert Peck's, and this deed of sale was acknowledged before Mr. Endecot 6 (6) 1647 (S. D., I. 83). The est. referred to was on Bachelor (Main) St, and included the spot upon which Joseph B. Thaxter, a lineal descendant, now resides. Two yrs. later he made sev. purchases of land at Broad Cove, and near Wey. river; also in 1652, the dw.-house and land where his s. John afts. resided. The chris. name of his w. was Elizabeth. She outlived him, and m. secondly, Sept. 29, 1654, William Ripley, widower. Surviving him, she m. thirdly, Jan. 28, 1657-58, John Dwight of Dedham, and d. 17 July, 1660. Thomas d. 4 Feb. 1653-54. 'Linenweaver.' Freeman 18 May, 1642, and a deacon of the church. Resided on Main St., near the meeting-house of the First Parish. In Suff. rec's (II. 15) is a petition to the Court for a division of the est. of Thomas Thaxter late of Hing., who d. intestate, leaving a property valued at £230. He was Linenweaver.2 He died on 4 February 1653/54 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts.2
