     Alexander Lightbody was born on 5 November 1865 at Kilncadzow, Carluke, Lanark, Scotland; SR lists Alexander's birth as illegitimate, with the following additional notation: "Paternity ofchild found from Court Decr, in Reg of Corr Entr Vol I, p.23 -- 25 November 1865."1 He was the son of Thomas Ballantyne and Elizabeth Lightbody. Alexander Lightbody married Margaret Thomson Sandilands, daughter of George Sandilands and Janet Young. Alexander Lightbody appeared on the census of 1891 in the household of James Weir and Elizabeth Lightbody at Carluke, Lanark, Scotland.2 Alexander Lightbody was lorryman in 1891 at Carluke, Lanark, Scotland.2 He died on 20 October 1926 at Cambuslang, Lanark, Scotland, at age 60.3
