I am Rob Weir. I grew up in Saugerties, New York. I’ve also lived in Cambridge, Somerville and Westford Massachusetts. I currently live in Dover, New Hampshire. I am a 1991 graduate of Harvard College, with a degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics.
For most of my career I worked as a software engineer, at IBM. My association with that company ended in 2018, after 27 years of service. I am currently exploring my several options, of which early semi-retirement looks the most attractive.
I also collect hobbies. I am a member of the American Philatelic Society, the United States Chess Federation, the New England Historic Genealogical Society and I am a trained SkyWarn weather spotter. I play trombone and ukulele rather poorly, and recorder rather well. Whether or nor I sing is an unresolved question, greatly in dispute. My photography has been published in several magazines, and recently was shown in a curated gallery exhibit.
This is my personal blog. The postings on this site are my own and don’t necessarily represent the positions, strategies or opinions of any of the organizations I am or have been associated with.
